After a root canal treatment
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until the permanent restoration is placed.
- Mild tenderness for 1–3 days is normal; manage with paracetamol or ibuprofen as advised.
- Maintain normal brushing and flossing — the temporary filling can handle it.
- Return for your crown / final restoration appointment as scheduled.
- If pain increases significantly or swelling appears, contact us.
After tooth extraction
- Bite firmly on the gauze for 30–45 minutes to control bleeding.
- Do not spit, rinse vigorously, smoke, or use a straw for 24 hours — these dislodge the healing clot.
- Apply ice externally for the first 24 hours; warm compress thereafter.
- Soft, cool foods for 1–2 days. Avoid hot liquids on the day of surgery.
- Continue brushing other teeth normally; rinse gently with salt water starting day 2.
- Take antibiotics and painkillers exactly as prescribed.
After an implant procedure
- Some swelling and mild discomfort for 2–3 days is normal — controlled with painkillers.
- Soft diet for the first week; gradually return to normal.
- Do not disturb the surgical site with your tongue or fingers.
- Continue good oral hygiene on adjacent teeth.
- Attend the suture removal appointment at 7–10 days.
- Healing of the implant in the bone takes 3–6 months before the final crown is placed.
After a filling
- You can eat once the anesthesia wears off (1–2 hours).
- Mild sensitivity to hot or cold for a few days is normal.
- If your bite feels off, return for a small adjustment — do not chew through it.
After scaling & polishing
- Gums may feel tender for 24–48 hours if there was significant buildup.
- Continue normal brushing and flossing.
- Some sensitivity to cold may briefly increase — usually resolves within a week.
After a crown or bridge
- With a temporary crown: avoid sticky or hard foods.
- Once the permanent crown is bonded, eat normally.
- Floss carefully around bridges — we will show you the correct technique.
General post-procedure red flags — call us if:
- Pain increases significantly after 2–3 days instead of improving.
- Persistent or fresh bleeding 6+ hours after a procedure.
- Significant facial swelling, fever, or pus.
- Any reaction to prescribed medications.
